"Sugat" Factory, Kiryat Gat
Shevet St 5
The Sugat factory was planned in 1959 and was established in the beginning of the 1960’s in Kiryat Gat, near the train station. The factory is considered an important industrial focal point in the area and provided hundreds of jobs for the people of the south. The planning included workshops, manufacturing, warehouses and administration buildings, as well as a range of technical buildings and laboratories, placed between green gardens. At the time, the factory was used to manufacture sugar from beets that grew in the fields of the south of Israel.
The Sugat factory still operates today and continues to grow. Nowadays it is mostly used to pack imported sugar.
